SUBJECT: Self-Reflection of Presentation on Audience
The purpose of this memo is to analyze the quality of my work in this presentation and identify my writing and technical choices that I made, why I made them, and reflect on what will work better in the future when writing in this specific genre.
I made this presentation with my own audience being my focus. I had to dig deep into different sources for the purpose of bringing up the most relevant points to best deliver my message. In order to do so, I explored different genres and how to develop new strategies
when writing in different genres, not only in writing but in visual presentation as well. This has helped me express myself in this genre considering what is appropriate for my audience. I learned to consider both my textual and visual choices to make sure that they best engage my audience.
My idea of a presentation was to be concise and straight to the point but after the feedback, I must agree that I could have done a better job of keeping my own audience engaged. One thing I intend to improve on regarding this is showing more info, and telling less. The slides need to share more details on the important points discussed, this way, my
the audience can have a better understanding of the context, and easily follow through with what I’m saying.
Personally, I still think in my native language and I’m still in that phase where you need to translate everything in your head first before saying it, and sometimes this can be challenging to do without reading through your notes, especially if you are anxious that you might use a word wrong or forget a word mid-sentence. In the future, I encourage myself to avoid reading from my notes and practice a lot instead. Overall, this presentation has strengthened my strategies in the use of textual and visual presentation, print, and digital technologies to address a range of audiences. I learned how to connect my experience in this presentation in future assignments.
